New Breathing Air Compressor being Purchased by BDVFD
We are pleased to let you know we have placed the order for a new breathing air compressor with Breathing Air Systems,
a division of Connors Diving in Dartmouth. The compressor is a Bauer Air-Kat Compressor, the same unit as is being used by
a number of our neighbors including Michelin, Kingston FD, and Kentville FD. It is also the only compressor that is manufactured
in Canada. Service and support are provided out of Dartmouth. Having this compressor will eliminate the need for us to take our
heavy rescue out of our service area for 4 hours at a time to fill at Michelin as we have done in the past. It will also help us
meet the new NFPA breathing air quality standards. All members will have the opportunity to be trained in the operation of the
compressor as soon as it is installed. The value of this investment is approximately $20,000.00 Delivery is expected in 4-6 weeks,
we should be running in 5-7 weeks.
