Fire Fighter Training!

Safety through training: We operate safely under varying hazardous conditions by being well trained at what we do. Firefighters are expected to attend training sessions.
Training – Internal: Training is held every Monday night at 7:00pm except for the last Monday of each month, which is meeting night. Our Officers and senior firefighters generally present the training. Occasionally we will bring in outside experts on specific topics. We periodically invite other departments to participate in our training, and we attend training at other departments or other agencies including mutual aid practice with other departments. Training is a mix of in house lectures and hand’s on practice.
Training – Nova Scotia Fire School, Waverly N.S.: We use the Nova Scotia Fire School for Level I fire fighter training and for specialized courses. The Fire School has practical training equipment such as a propane fire trainer, a live fire burn building, and outdoor burn pads for car fires and class B fires.
Training – Self Study Initiative: Firefighters are encouraged to study topics that interest them. The officers and senior firefighters have a wealth on knowledge and are willing to share that knowledge. As links to web training become known they are posted on this website.
